How We Celebrate Green Days

Earth Day isn’t just another date on the calendar. For us, it’s a celebration of community, sustainability, and the small actions that add up to big change. As proud members of the Calgary community, we’re always looking for ways to reduce our collective footprint, and this Earth Day, we’re turning your recycling efforts into something even greener.

Earth Day sprouted in 1970, when millions of people gathered to protest pollution with more peace signs than plastic bags. Sparked by a leader and fueled by student energy, it grew from grassroots to global, proving even dirt can inspire something clean and revolutionary.

On April 22nd, we launched a special initiative: for every 100 bottles brought in on Earth Day, we’ll plant one tree. Yes, one tree for every 100 containers. That’s right, this means all your spring cleaning or weekend recycling will grow an entire mini-forest. Whether you’re clearing out your garage or cashing in after a family barbecue, your bottles will now do more than just get recycled. Everything collected that day will help restore nature.

Trees play a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions, improving air quality, and providing homes for wildlife. By linking recycling with reforestation, we’re showing how a simple trip to the bottle depot can support a much bigger mission. It’s just one way we’re deepening our commitment to a sustainable Calgary.
