Rising Up to Serve Our Community

At Sage Hill Bottle Depot, we treat everyone we meet like family. That doesn’t end with our guests in store – it extends to our entire Northwest Calgary community! We aim to lift up our community through thoughtful events, fundraisers and bottle drives. Keep reading to learn about some of the ways Sage Hill Bottle Depot has risen up to serve our community in the past.

Stampede Breakfast

While the current state of the world prevented us from hosting a safe Stampede breakfast in 2020, we proudly flipped thousands of flapjacks in the past. Food is one of the most universal ways of bringing people together. No matter what culture you have, or place you come from, we all eat together.

We are already getting excited for Calgary Stampede in 2021! It’ll be a boot-stompin’ good time. Yahoo!

Fundraiser for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Calgary and Area

When COVID-19 struck, we felt worried for those in our community who were already vulnerable prior to a global pandemic. We wanted to do something to uplift people’s spirits and help those in need, but we weren’t sure how we could do it safely. Until we came up with the idea of a curbside concert and bottle drive to benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary and Area.

We invited a talented local Calgary musician, Danny Zapata, to serenade all of our guests as they came on their bottle runs. We invited our guests to save up their extra empty recyclable beverage containers to donate to directly benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary and Area. As you can see from the photos above, it was a rockin’ good time!

Thanks to everyone’s generous donations, we raised a grand total of $693.31 for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary and Area. They work with kids who face barriers such as poor living conditions and family violence, being exposed to risk factors for mental health, struggling in school, or having identity challenges.

Bottle Drives for Local Kids

When your kids need to get new uniforms for their sports team, or travel expenses for their school band, or maybe they just want to save up to donate to their favourite charity or for their college fund, a Sage Hill Bottle Depot bottle drive is just the ticket!

Over the years, tons of kids from the Northwest communities in Calgary have trusted Sage Hill Bottle Depot to help them raise money while also deepening their understanding of collaboration and team work.

Kangaroos for the Kids

As COVID-19 wore on and summer wound down, we wanted to give all of the families something unexpected to look forward to. Since travel isn’t possible right now, we brought Australia to Sage Hill Bottle Depot instead!

Our friends at Cobb’s Adventure Park helped us bring the community together by stopping by with baby kangaroos, sugar gliders, goats and even a tortoise! Our guests dropped by to pet them, take photos with them, and leave with a smile.

As you can see – we’re not the average bottle depot. We work hard every day to create an experience unlike any other so that you love recycling and look forward to every visit to our depot.

To see even more photos from our events, and stay up to date with what we have planned next in the community, make sure you join our family on Facebook. If you attended one of our events, we would love for you to share your photos with us on Facebook! You never know when we might feature you.
